The best neighborhoods to stay in Paris with your family

Central Paris is undoubtedly the best area to stay in Paris for families, as it is conveniently located within walking distance of the city's best museums, shopping, and restaurants. Whether dashing around the city all day or focusing on a few key attractions, it is a relief to know you are staying nearby at the end of a long day.

    Le Marais

The Marais district is one of the most historic and charming Paris neighborhoods. You will find chic shops, picturesque cafés, and small parks hidden around the corner of a quiet street. The Place des Vosges is quite possibly the most beautiful square in all of Paris. It is home to elegant cafés, art galleries, and gourmet restaurants. Despite the calm atmosphere of this district, the Marais offers easy access to major Paris attractions, like Notre Dame Cathedral or the Île Saint Louis. The Place de la Bastille is also just a few minutes away.

    Louvre-Rivoli

The central location of this neighborhood is unrivaled, as it is just across the rue de Rivoli from the Louvre Museum. If you want to visit Paris on foot, this location places you within walking distance of several famous attractions like the Sainte Chapelle and Notre Dame Cathedral on the Île de la Cité, and the Saint Germain des Prés district across the Seine river on the left bank.

    Champs-Élysées

This majestic boulevard is unquestionably the most famous in France. Dotted by luxury boutiques and crowned with the Arc de Triomphe, the Champs-Elysées is the epitome of French luxury fashion. The streets surrounding the Champs are some of the city's grandest boulevards, offering prime examples of architecture from the Belle Epoque. A bit further away, you will find family friendly amenities like the Parc Monceau, which features a large playground.

    Rue Saint Honoré

The rue Saint Honoré is an excellent place for families to stay in Paris as it has something for everyone. It is a great location for family activities, as you are only a few minutes from major tourist attractions and the Seine River. For some time away from the kids, adults will enjoy the many chic shops and great restaurants lining the street.

The best type of accommodation in Paris for families

Staying in a place with the same comfort as home makes family vacations much less stressful. Finding a Parisian pied à terre for your next vacation can make for a more enjoyable, personalized experience for each family member. Highstay offers a wide range of apartments in the best area to stay in Paris for families. Each residence includes the same amenities you would expect in luxury hotels, like hotel-quality linens and towels. All of our rentals feature a complete kitchen, so you can easily store snacks in the fridge or whip up a quick meal.

The best activities for families visiting Paris

    Louvre Museum

This enormous museum is one of France's most famous attractions, showcasing some of the most impressive art and artifacts ever made. From Ancient Egypt to Roman Antiquity, not to mention famous artworks like the Mona Lisa, there is a seemingly endless supply of fascination. Visiting the entire museum in one day is too ambitious even for adults, so pick a few sections to focus on during your visit.

    Disneyland Paris

Elementary-school-aged children will be delighted to learn that their trip to Paris can include a visit to Disneyland! Disneyland Paris is a one-hour train ride from Paris, leaving from the conveniently located (but maze-like) Les Halles station or Gare de Lyon. There is also a shuttle bus available which departs from several locations in Paris each morning to transport you on the 20-mile journey. Disneyland Paris includes two parks: Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios, offering a variety of attractions for all ages. If you are looking for a more French alternative, the Parc Astérix theme park features several roller coasters and other attractions.

    Hot Air Balloon

This Hot Air Balloon at the Parc André Citroën lifts you up 150 meters over the city for an uninterrupted view of Paris from above. On a clear day, this makes for a delightful memory for the entire family.

    Visiting Paris with Young Kids

Any parent with young children is aware of the daily naptime ritual. Naptime is an essential time for young minds to rest and absorb the information they have taken in during the day. Traveling provides more stimulation than usual, and even adults can be tempted to dose off after a few hours at one of Paris' many tourist attractions.

That is why staying just a few steps away makes it easy to stop in for a nap, and makes Paris feel like home. Once the children are in bed, the parents can slip away for a date night, knowing the kids are safe nearby with the babysitter. Stay with Highstay, and we can arrange a babysitter for you, making your family vacation more enjoyable.

    Marionnette Show for Kids

Young kids (ages 3-8) may enjoy a marionette show at the Luxembourg Gardens, where the eye-catching visuals and easy-to-follow story will keep their attention despite the language barrier.

Toy Sailboats in the Luxembourg Gardens (Jardin du Luxembourg)

The pond in the center of the Jardin du Luxembourg is more than a great place to sit for a short rest. It also features an attraction that will delight little ones. You can rent a small toy sailboat that your child can push from one end of the basin to the other with a wooden stick. They will delight in watching the little boat glide across the water.

    Zoo de Paris

The Paris Zoo features 3,000 animals on 34 acres of land, located right next to the massive Bois de Vincennes park. The zoo hosts a wide variety of species, featuring everything from white rhinos to manatees and, of course, the lions and giraffes that young children will instantly recognize. The zoo is about a 10-minute walk from the Porte Dorée Metro station (Line 8) or is about a 20-30 minute taxi ride from central Paris. For a smaller but closer alternative, consider the Ménagerie of the Jardins des Plantes.
