Christmas Markets

Christmas Markets may have been invented in Alsace, but they have become an inseparable part of Christmas in Paris. Visit one of the city's many Christmas markets in places like the Luxembourg Gardens or in front of City Hall to discover the magic of Christmas in France with your family.

The vendors are housed in small wooden chalets, selling Christmas ornaments, other holiday gifts, and a selection of holiday cookies and seasonal drinks like mulled wine and hot chocolate. The City Hall Christmas market also includes a carousel for little ones and the opportunity to meet Santa Claus on certain afternoons.

For a larger version of the Christmas market, visit the Tuilleries Garden to experience La Magie de Noël (The Magic of Christmas.) You will find one of several ice rinks in the city and a champagne bar that allows you to bring your glass aboard the adjacent Ferris wheel, further enhancing the stunning view above the Parisian rooftops.

The splendor of the Palace of Versailles is enhanced during the holiday season with Christmas Decorations and a unique spectacle. Starting in mid-December, "The King's Journey' performed by dancers, singers, and baroque musicians, brings the court of Louis XIV back to life. The captivating show stars the Royal Harlequin and Baroque Santa himself.

After basking in the sophisticated atmosphere of the Place Vendôme, stroll along the nearby rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré to view elaborate Christmas lights draped across the street and adorning the façades of prestigious shops.
